Why does this story resonate with us so much? The idea that we so desperately want someone from outside, someone of unique and great worth, we need that! We need someone to bless us! We actually can’t bless ourselves. - Tim Keller

11 Why does benediction come at the end?

12 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10:11-14)

13 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. – Hebrews 12:3

15 A Mediator: Priesthood
But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. Hebrews 7:24, 25
