5 II Chron. 6:7,8 Now it was in the heart of my father David to build
a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel. But the Lord said to my father David, "Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart." II Chron. 6:7,8

6 Leadership limitations
God's servants often mean well . . . but often misunderstand their situations. Eli presumes Hannah is drunk (I Sam. 1:12-18). Saul presumes it's fine to be a priest in a pinch (13:8,9). Samuel presumes Eliab is to succeed Saul as king (16:6-7). David presumes it's practical to tote the ark on a cart (25:32-34). Uzzah presumes it's OK to grab the ark to protect it (2 Sam. 6:7). Zadok and Abiathar presume it's good to take the Ark out (15:24-29).

7 Why you can't build me a house:
The Bad News, 4-7 Why you can't build me a house: You are unqualified. It's unnecessary. It was unsolicited.

8 I Chron. 22:6-8 David said to Solomon, "My son, I had intended
to build a house to the name of the Lord my God.” But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name because you have shed so much blood, Behold, a son will be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give peace and quiet to Israel…” I Chron. 22:6-8

9 I Chron. 28:2,3 I had intended to build a permanent home for the ark
of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God. So I had made preparations to build it, but God said to me, “You shall not build a house for My name because because you are a man of war and have shed blood” I Chron. 28:2,3

11 II Sam. 23:5 Ps. 89:3,4 Truly is not my house so with God? For He
has made an everlasting covenant with me. II Sam. 23:5 I have made a covenant with My chosen: I have sworn to David My servant, I will establish your seed forever and build up your throne to all generations. Ps. 89:3,4

12 The Lord God will build you a house and . . .
The Good News, 8-17 The Lord God will build you a house and . . . make your name great. provide land and safety for Israel. begin a dynasty for you. provide you a son to build the temple. create an enduring kingdom for your son to rule. discipline when needed but the dynasty remains. insure an eternal house, throne, and kingdom.

13 Luke 1:32,33 . . . and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be
great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end. Luke 1:32,33

14 Acts 13:22,23 He raised up David to be their king, con-
cerning whom He also testified and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will. From the descendants of this man, accord- ing to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus. Acts 13:22,23

16 II Chron. 22:14-16 Now behold, with great pains I have pre-
pared for the house of the Lord 100,000 talents of gold and 1,000,000 talents of silver and bronze and iron beyond weight, for they are in great quantity; also timber and stone I have prepared arise and work, and may the Lord be with you. II Chron. 22:14-16
