Blood Covenant Part 5 4/23/2017 The law is a looking-glass, which my lady holds up to her face that she may see if there be any spot in it; but she cannot wash her face with the looking-glass. (C. H. Spurgeon.)

Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.
8
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
9
2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake He made Him to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
10
Hebrews 7:22 This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.
11
Hebrews 7:18-19 For it is witnessed of Him, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Jesus Took Our Place Romans 5:17-19
Galatians 3:13 - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—

David Guzik The Old Covenant had a mediator (Moses), but no one to guarantee the people's side of the covenant. Therefore, they continually failed under it. But the New Covenant - a better covenant - has a cosigner to guarantee it on our behalf. Therefore, the New Covenant depends on what Jesus did, not on what we do. He is the surety and we are not.
14
Hebrews 8:6 But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant He mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.
15
Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.
16
Hebrews 8:8-12
17
Hebrews 8:13 In speaking of a new covenant, He makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
18
Hebrews 9:15 Therefore He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
19
For Our Consideration Which covenant is better and why is it? Are you a new creation in Christ? What does it mean to you that Jesus is the Mediator? Are you drawing near to God as a dearly loved child?
