What is Service Learning (S-L)
Rooted in experientialism “a structured learning that combines community service with explicit learning objectives, preparation and reflection” ~Seifer (1998, p.274)

Research Findings about S-L
S-L helps students to: Acquire content related knowledge (Bringle & Hatcher, 1996; Eyler & Giles, 1999) Increase awareness of citizenship (Eyler & Giles, 1999) Enhance learning motivation (Bryant and Hunton, 2000) Develop critical thinking and other meta-cognitive competences (Deans, 2000; Batchelder & Root, 1994)
