WHITING LAKEFRONT PLAN
December 9, 2008 Welcome everyone and thanks for coming tonight. I’d like to start by thanking everyone who participated in the planning process and the design Charrette. You input has given us the vision to transform our lakefront into our greatest asset and economic engine. I’d also like to thank all of the other stakeholders involved in this process. Your willingness to assist will be one of the primary reasons that we will succeed with our plan. And I truly would like to thank the staff of American StructurePoint who have guided us to this point.

OPENING REMARKS This will be my most difficult Forum to date
Planned on unveiling our new Lakefront plan tonight But…at 10:00 this morning, I elected to take a step back and be sure we got it right before doing so
3
OPENING REMARKS This was a difficult decision – but I believe it is in everyone’s best interest Why? We’re simply not ready Set the date for today’s forum two months ago
4
OPENING REMARKS I identified 3 key caveats to guide our planning process Must be realistic and fundable Take as much time as needed to get it right When I unveil – I need to be sold
5
OPENING REMARKS Bottom-line is that I’m not comfortable that we’ve met these expectations and I would rather tell you so tonight, then to roll out something that we’ll regret tomorrow BUT….I hope to provide you with enough information and answers to your questions, so that when you leave tonight, you won’t be disappointed that you came.
