Initial Interview with each learner Current NCEA credits Interests and Strengths Gaps Identified Meeting organised with the tutor Think about a career pathway Registration with Te Kura Levels chosen for study 2 subjects offered per year

4 Weekly classes and regular tutor contact
Programme Delivery Weekly classes and regular tutor contact Support given to help with queries Support students to remain engaged in learning Tutors oversee the students programme Oversees the smooth running of the paperwork Communicates with Te Kura Keeps track of credits Records learner stories Is the student’s advocate

5 Current Programme Delivery
3 NCEA 4 U programmes in action – 2 hour sessions Gore Winton x2 Nightcaps Weekly sessions with the tutor Students continue work at home with tutor engagement as required 26 learners currently engaged in the programme Capacity for 30 learners

Te Kura – free for under 20 year olds $110 per subject $40 recovered per year Programme costs include Tutor Coordinator Childcare Travel Venue Subject Fees Resources Kai

Central Southland - based in Winton 80% European / 20% NZ Maori Age range – 19 – 44 years Average age – 26 years 109 credits gained during the year Eastern Southland – based in Gore 44% European / 56% NZ Maori Age range – 21 – 31 years Average age – 25 years 1 student who has been on the programme for 3 years have begun a course studying Business Administration Western Southland – based in Nightcaps 12% European / 88% NZ Maori Age range – 24 – 35 years Average age – 27 years Comment from a learners parent .. “They kept their dreams tiny and thanks to you there is a glitter of hope in their eyes”

English, Maths, Business Studies, Science, Digital Technology, Accounting, Horticulture, Technology Level 2 English, Maths, Health and PE, Agriculture, Digital Technology and Biology Level 3 English, Accounting and Photography

9 Early Childhood Education Opportunities
Child care offered Run alongside sessions Opportunity for Early Childhood Education Engages many high risk families who have not previously engaged in any form of EC Education Removes a barrier for the parents to engage in formal learning
