1 Quality Management ISO 9001
For TM I’ve seen a some places where some people hated Quality Management and ISO 9000, Mainly due to the fact that all they seen from it were the requests from them to do some documents, some work. Rarely they seen why is important, what are their benefits out of it .

2 What is Quality Quality is the degree to which product or service possesses a desired combination of attributes C: Capability (F: Functionality) U: Usability P: Performance (E: Efficiency) R: Reliability I: Install-ability (P: Portability) M: Maintainability Producers: Meeting Requirements Customers: Fit for use First let’s see what is Quality. Think that you are a client., as in some cases you are. Let’s say you build a house … Now, how do you choose your supplier? How can you know they will do a good work for you ? These attributes define a product quality . But what determines product quality ? Of course, the way they do their work determines product quality. So you go to an other site where they work, and check how do they work ? Or check what is their customers opinion ? Or see how they tell you they will do the work ?

3 Focusing on process Stages of Quality :
Control – checking the final product Assurance – checking each stage and the process Management – designing the process Focusing on product alone misses Scalability issues Knowledge of how to do it better Focusing on process predicts Repeatability of outcomes Project trends Product characteristics Let’s go back 5 centuries . A men from far away come to you with a product to sell. What could you do to ensure you don’t give your values in vain ? Check the product. So this was the first stage of quality : control . We still have QC departments . But that leads to a great waste if you are producer, since the defected peaces might not be possible or is to expensive to repair. So QA was invented shortly after industrialization, specially after separating production in operations. The next step was logical QM is only trying to prevent defects and manage Quality So processes are important . Let’s demonstrate. Take a page from a book. Now using no tools try to count the nr of letters f. Is an easy task ? What will be the precision ? What if we use a pencil to underline them ? Or if we write at each row how many they are ? What could we do more to get the result more error free ?

4 How Quality Entire Organization Quality Control Vision, Policy, Plan
Process improvement Vision, Policy, Plan Process: Standards, Procedures Quality Control Measure & Analyze Entire Organization Development Teams, QA, Audit Development Teams Development Teams and QA So, now from internal perspective, how can we achieve products of good quality ? By Management

5 How to get quality ? Implement well designed processes
Integrate quality control activities into its development process Promote error prevention techniques Monitor quality levels through metric collection Continuously improve its processes, methodologies and techniques by exploiting evolving technologies Increase visibility and creativity

6 Essential QM Processes
Estimation Task can be done in the time provided Escalate if any risks appear Requirement management Control requirements from clients Resource management Use AWACS to enter spent time Peer review ( code, documents ) better for you to spot the problem than the client Document – for further analyse

7 Important QM Tools Tools Ticketing system for bugs, NCR, improvements
Version control to avoid code loss, conflicts Meeting memos – you can't remember everything Use cases or Test cases ISO Handbook Procedural descriptions Improvements via wiki Continuous improvement tools
