1 Psalm 91: Under The Shadow Of God
Wisdom From God Psalm 91: Under The Shadow Of God

2 Thinking About Safety Where do you feel safest? What makes you feel safe there? Where do you feel least safe? Why? In many ways, earthly safety is a myth. We can only be so safe in a fallen world. How safe can we be physically? How safe are you spiritually? Absolute safety in God.

3 Layers Of Safety Shelter of Most High Shadow of Almighty
Refuge and fortress Covered with His pinions Shield and bulwark

4 How Is This Safe? Vs. 3: “For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence.” Things that trap you Things that overpower you

5 Safety Dwelling In The Lord
Vs – “You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day; of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction tht lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my Refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near you tent.”

6 No Fear Of Physical Things
Night terrors Arrows of enemies Diseases and illness Armies Any evil or plague How is this possible?

7 Trust In God To Do What Is Best
Matthew 10:28 – “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Physical suffering cannot deter us if our proper fear is in the Lord.

8 Can We Live Fear Free? Isaiah 41:10 – “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Revelation 2:10 – “Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

9 Ministering Spirits Verses – “For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and he serpent you will trample down.”

10 Messianic Only? Applied to Jesus by Satan in the wilderness.
Matthew 4:6 – “…and said to Him, ‘If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning You….”

11 Ministering Spirits Jesus did not deny the verses related to Him, but neither did He affirm it. He challenged Satan’s application of the Psalm, insisting we not put God to the test. Yet we know from Scripture that the angels are ministering spirits to aid those of us who are the children of God.

12 Hebrews 1:14 “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” Render service = EIS DIAKONIA – “to deacon for” , to serve. Ministering – LEITOURGIKOS – be benevolent, publicly function

13 Ways In Which Angels Serve(d)
Luke 16:22 -- Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. They escort the righteous dead into the presence of God.

14 …angels serve… They engage in spiritual warfare
Jude 9 – “But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’” Daniel 10:21 – “…Yet there is no one who stands firmly with me against these forces except Michael your prince.”

15 They Sometimes Administer Judgment
Acts 12:23 – “And immediately an angel of the Lord struck (Herod) because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.” 2 Kings 19:35 – “Then it happened that night that the angel of the Lord went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians…..”

16 Angels Watch Over God’s Children
Matthew 18:10 -- “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.” To watch in behalf of the poor, downtrodden, hurting.

17 Why? Because God Loves Us!
vs – “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation.” …and we love Him!
