2. 7.1 solving linear systems by graphing
When you solve a problem that has 2 or more equations, it is called a system of linear equations or a linear system.
A solution of a linear systems w/2 variables is an ordered pair (x,y) that satisfies both equations. One answer that works for both equations.
When the equations of a linear systems are graphed, the solution is the point at which they intersect.

3. Checking a solution algebraically
Check that (2, -1) is a solution of the system
3x + 2y = 4
-x + 3y = -5
Is (2, -1) a solution to the linear system?
yes

4. Joke of the day!
A cannibal entered the meat market to buy something nice for dinner. The owner greeted him and told him to look around. The cannibal began to inspect the meat case and noticed the market specialized in brain. Upon further inspection he noticed a marked disparity between the costs of brain meats. A carpenter's brain sells for $1.50 per pound. A plumber's brain sells for $2.25 per pound. He noticed with alarm that a politician's brain sells for $ a pound. To find the answer, you must graph the 2 equations on the same graph & find the point where they intersect.

Write both equations in slope-intercept form
Graph
check by substituting
