The Nurse’s Role in Reducing Antipsychotic use in Long-Term Care Facilities
Upon completion of this educational activity, RNs working in long-term care nursing facilities in Texas will be able to discuss the importance of antipsychotic medication reduction in residents with dementia. Further, they will have the interdisciplinary communication skills that are necessary in order to practice nursing in a patient-centered and team-based approach. Ultimately, the knowledge gained through this educational activity will allow RNs to practice in a patient-centered manner in order to reduce antipsychotic medication use and improve resident health and well-being. Requirements for successful completion of this educational activity are: Completion of all 6 modules with a passing score of 75% on each post-test. Completion of activity evaluation. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Texas Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
