PDElib and GDX Support for AP242
PDElib is a software development toolkit used by ITI and CAD vendors to develop standards based CAD data exchange applications GDX is the ITI neutral interoperability file format integrated with PDElib AP242 Support Assembly structure, part geometry and attributes for AP242 AP242 PMI semantic representation and graphic presentation data Imports and maintains the relationship between corresponding PMI elements and geometry from AP242 Supports PMI based on new tessellated entities as well as polyline A mapping between AP242 and the GDX file format is established to enable verification, validation and import within the ITI CADIQ and CADfix interoperability solutions

CADIQ and STEP AP242 Use Cases
Direct Validation CADIQ uses the CAD system’s programming interface to determine if an exported or imported STEP file is equivalent Saved View Validation CADIQ validates that the CAD and STEP models’ geometry and PMI entities are equivalent within each saved view Graphical and Semantic PMI Validation CADIQ validates that the CAD and STEP PMI definitions are equivalent at two levels: graphical presentation for visual consumption and semantic representation for automated consumption PMI Quality Checking CADIQ identifies defects in the semantic representation and graphical presentation of 3D annotations in both CAD and STEP models STEP Validation Property Augmentation If an exported STEP model is missing a validation property, CADIQ will evaluate it within the native CAD system and append it to the STEP file STEP Validation Property Quality Checking CADIQ identifies STEP validation properties which are incomplete or inaccurate

Graphical and Semantic PMI Validation
Indentify PMI data that has been removed, added or modified during a translation process Unmatched Annotations User error or incorrect export options mean that no PMI is exported or translated Annotation Differences Different interpretation of PMI data or errors occur during export or translation CADIQ identifies inconsistencies in the display of Graphical PMI data CADIQ Semantic PMI validation will overlook negligible presentation differences

CADIQ identifies defects in the semantic representation and graphical presentation of 3D annotations in both CAD and STEP models

STEP Validation Property Checking and Augmentation
Incomplete or Missing Validation Properties Detect if an exported STEP model is missing a validation property CADIQ will evaluate it within the native CAD system and append it to the STEP file Inaccurate Validation Properties CADIQ will assess the validation property data in the STEP file and determine the accuracy of that data relative to the CAD model GDX geometry model and evaluators used to derive “2nd CAD system” validation properties for comparison
