Basic Needs How do we identify the basic needs?
Who? Who identifies the needs? How? Those who can “see” the student and those who will “listen” to the student.

Basic Needs What Questions Do We Ask?
Why is the student in this “need” situation? Is this a temporary or long-term situation? What other needs are not being met? Who is part of this family/network? (ex. A weekend backpack won’t be enough food to sustain a family.)

While we do look into the situation, we must remember…

Food Banks, Food Programs Distribution center, clothes closets, free store Donated funds Champions – Facebook Page,

Psychological Needs How do we identify students with psychological needs? All students need to feel valued, to understand they are important, to know they are worth loving.

…and EVERY person in your school and in your community can be a CHAMPION!

Mentor Programs Lunch Buddies Tutoring One-on-One relationships One-on-One relationships – Teachers, adults, students/peers, younger students, and older students. Someone who chooses to be a champion.

How do we get our students and our families to this level? This is where we want everyone to be…the road is not easy.

We must first ensure that their basic needs are met.

We must first ensure that EVERY CHILD HAS A CHAMPION! One-on-One relationships – Teachers, adults, students/peers, younger students, and older students. Someone who chooses to be a champion.

Self-Fulfillment This is a student-led program. Students took the lead on “Pass the Bobcat Pride”. In this picture, one of the girls holding a shirt was a student who benefited from the project. After choosing her shirt, she asked if she could help with the distribution. These students are successful; they can empower others.
