Goals for the NT Mentoring Program 2017-2020
To provide resources and support to assist Novice Teachers in becoming effective teachers. To increase the number of Novice Teachers that remain in the field of teaching.
17
Changes to Mentoring 2017 Arkansas has made significant changes to mentoring in the past year. Mentoring is no longer one-to-one. NTs are no longer required to meet with mentors for specific periods of time. NTs are no longer required to complete specific units of study or Modules to submit to the state. Novice Teacher are required to present documentation to their mentoring program and to their districts.
18
CRESC NT Mentoring Plan
The CRESC NT Mentoring Plan is a 3-Year plan. Teachers who began teaching in August 2017 will continue in the mentoring program until May 2020. Some of our NTs are in non-traditional certification programs and began their teaching career in fall 2015 or These NTs are completing their 3-year mentoring requirement in the new CRESC program. So, even though this is Year 1 for the CRESC NT Mentoring program, we will have a few teachers in Year 2 and Year 3 this year.
