Lab Work #2 Sound wave velocity
2
I. Audible sound velocity
You have this lab equipment : a clap, 2 microphones, a computer with an acquisition system. Imagine a procedure to find the velocity of the audible sound wave iin the air. We set the 2 microphones in front of the clap, one before the other. We connect both mocrophones to the computer. We measure the delay t (time between the two signals received by the micerophones). We measure the distance d between the the microphones. And we calculate the speed : v = d / t 1. Imagine a procedure to find the velocity of the audible sound wave in the air.

1. Acquistion parameters :
a) « durée »:

a) « déclenchement »: We have set the trigger with the signal of the microphone that is near the clap. Sens montant, Voltage : find a value by making tests. Pre-trig : 25 % so the computer records the signal before it arrives to the microphone.

3. Measurements : 4. Calculation: 5. Validation: a) relative error b) what is the main incertainty ? How could you decrease it ?
