1 Sagebrush Conservation Strategy Workshop
Report out to: Idaho Bird Conservation Partnership 13 November 2016

2 Sagebrush Conservation Strategy Workshop -- Nov 2016 hosted by Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Objectives: Create a roadmap for sagebrush conservation that connects to, and builds on, commitments identified in the Greater Sage-grouse Conservation Strategy, GRSG federal and state management plans and programs, and specific products and processes resulting from Sec’t Order 3336 Identify gaps in foundational materials and barriers that may need to be addressed to create positive outcomes for sagebrush/sagebrush focal species conservation Reach agreement on what this strategy should contain; specifically, what it needs to assess and address in additional to these foundational materials, including biological and habitat needs, riparian areas, cultural areas; and risks from climate change, fire, invasive species, development, and other change agents Determine the path for completing the strategy between November 4, and September 30, 2018

Groups Taxa Big Game Mammals Birds Small Mammals & Herps Invasive Species SB Communities/Landscape Ecology Climate Change Policies and Programs Communications/Outreach Assignments Develop and agree on appropriate management goals for focal species Identify where spatially and temporally should invasive control efforts be prioritized What is appropriate configuration, quality, function of sagebrush systems at range-wide and ecoregional scales? What are likely CC impacts to sagebrush ecosystem components? Determine opportunities to further communication around the evolving science of sagebrush management
