2 What is the direct object?
The direct object is the word in the sentence that receives the action of the verb. The direct object can be either a noun or a pronoun.

3 What is a noun? A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea. What is a pronoun? A pronoun takes the place of a noun.

4 Ex. The quarterback throws the ball.
The quarterback  subject noun throws  verb the ball  direct object With what can we replace the direct object? The quarterback throws it. (Direct object pronouns can be used to replace direct object nouns)

5 Yo hablo Español. Yo lo hablo. I speak Spanish.  I speak it.
In spanish, the direct object pronoun comes before the verb. Yo hablo Español. Yo lo hablo. (noun) (verb) (direct object) (noun) (d.o.p) (verb) I speak Spanish.  I speak it. (subject) (verb) (direct object) (subject) (verb) (d.o.p.)

7 Ella lo compró. Ella compró el bañador. Práctica:
(subject) (verb) (direct object) El bañador needs to be replaced with a direct object pronoun. Is el bañador feminine or masculine? Masculine Is el bañador singular or plural? singular Do you replace with lo or la? Lo To Rewrite, remember that the d.o.p. goes in front of the verb. Ella lo compró.

8 Te toca: Yo compré los anteojos. Ella compró las toallas. Tú compraste el regalo. Nosotros trajimos la comida. Ellos llevaron los libros.
