2 Overview Click Options to create users and customize prediction, speech and hotkeys. Click Words to show or hide the prediction word list. Click Speech to turn speech feedback on and off. Click Read to hear selected text read aloud.

3 Creating a Profile Open WordQ
If the New User window does not open click: Options New User Click Next a) b) W1 Can open Word Q program

4 Creating a Profile: Select your vocabulary
Create a “new user” vocabulary Following on-screen instructions. Select an appropriate vocabulary. E.g. Starter: For beginning writers. It includes about 5000 words commonly used by writers up to a grade 3 level. Intermediate includes about 10,500 words commonly used by writers at a grade 2 – 8 level.

5 Creating a Profile: Save User Profile
Click Next on the Setup Wizard Window File Name: Type first and last name followed by EN (English) or FR (French) depending on vocabulary chosen. Can use/save user file

6 Profile Customization
Click Options Choose Prediction Change Number of words from 5 – 9 Change Position of list to Leave in Place Click OK Can change the Word Box options (prediction) Leave in place vs. follow cursor

7 Saving User File WordQ can be set up for automatic file saving
Click Options Choose Preferences Click Always in Save vocabulary on Exit and then Click OK Always save

8 Speech Feedback Click Options Choose Speech Recognition
Adjust the speed and volume by moving the slide ruler. The most realistic voice in WordQ is Heather. Reading speed

9 WordQ Prediction I am going t|
Each letter you type results in a list of words in the prediction box. If you see a word you want, do one of the following: - press the (down arrow) key until the word is selected and press Enter, - click the word with your mouse/touchpad, or - type the number beside the word I am going t|

10 Prediction Box If the prediction box does not appear, make sure the Words button is indented and your cursor is in a text field. W2 Can turn word box and speech on and off

11 Reading with WordQ Ensure the Speech button is turned on.
Highlight any portion of text. Click the Read button Can use the read tool

12 WordQ Everywhere! Works with all commonly used programs like:
PowerPoint W3 Uses word prediction tool with other software Kurzweil Inspiration And more!

13 WordQ and the Internet Will read aloud text from the internet
Highlight any portion of online text Press Read W4 Can highlight text and read the internet
