IMPACT SAMR Cover Sheet
Teacher: John Wright Louisiana Science Inquiry Standard (include description): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Analyze the conclusion from an investigation by using data to determine its validity (SI-H-B4) Determine the significant figures based on precision of measurement for stated quantities (PS-H-A1) Task Overview Learning Objective(s) Suggested Technology Students chose a unit measurable in the lab, research the tools to measure, Design a video those devices on sig figs and accuracy. Students go to blackboard to vote for best device and explain their choice. The Student Will determine the amount of sig figs a measuring device can measure. Video making tool Computer w/ Internet Blackboard The Student Will determine appropriate lab equipment for measuring different quantities. Students play a sig figs game on Kahoot. The Student Will determine the amount of sig figs in a given measurement. The Student Will solve mathematical problems and express the answer in the correct amount of sig figs. Kahoot Students take a test on Significant Figures on Blackboard. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. transformation MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. enhancement SUBSTITUTION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with no real change.

Significant Figures Test
You will take a test on Sig Figs through blackboard. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log into Blackboard. Under My Courses click on My Class. Click on Assessments under the tabs to the left. Click on Chemistry I. Click on Assessments. Click on Sig Figs Test. Click on Begin. Enter the password: impact, then click submit. Type in answers for all questions. Click Save and Submit when finished. Log off the computer and plug it in to charge. This task uses: Computer w/ Internet Blackboard Learning Objective(s): The Student Will determine the amount of sig figs in a given measurement. (PS-H-A1) The Student Will solve mathematical problems and express the answer in the correct amount of sig figs. (PS-H-A1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ John Wright / School: Sulphur High School Louisiana State Standard: PS-H-A1 Grade Level/Subject: Chemistry Special Directions/Considerations: Charge Laptops immediately after finishing. A The Sig Figs Champion! Go to https://kahoot.it/
You will play a game answering questions about Sig Figs on Kahoot! AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Go to Enter the Game Number written on the board. Type in a code name to play. (Do Not use your real name) Wait for me to begin the quiz. Answer all questions by clicking your answer. This task uses: Computer w/ Internet Kahoot Learning Objective(s): The Student Will determine the amount of sig figs in a given measurement. significant task redesign.
M How Do They Measure Up? You will make a video about different measuring tools. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Your group will choose a unit from a list of units. Research and determine the various measuring devices available in the lab to measure these units. Design a video using the iPad explaining the pros and cons of the measuring devices with emphasis on sig figs and accuracy. Log into Blackboard. Under My Courses click on My Class. Click on Discussion Board under the tabs to the left. Upload the video to the discussion board. R Measurement Masters You will make a video about different measuring tools. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Review at least 2 other groups videos (does not have to be the same hour). Write a post picking which device from the video would be the most efficient at measuring in our lab. Explain your choice. (consider practicality as well and functionality) This task uses: Computer w/ Internet Blackboard Video Making Tool Learning Objective(s): The Student Will determine the amount of sig figs a measuring device can measure.
