1 OHS 2012 FOOTBALL CLINIC Play Offense the Oconomowoc Way

2 OFFENSE THIS OFFENSE IS NOT A “SEXY” OFFENSE
PHYSICAL ATTACKING RUN GAME  AGGRESSIVE PLAY ACTION GAME  EFFICIENT PASSING GAME CAN JUDGE A TEAM’S DISCIPLINE BY WATCHING THEIR OFFENSE PLAY BEST ATHLETES, FIND A WAY TO GET THEM THE BALL – “LIGHTNING BUGS” PLAY ON “O”  CONTROL THE TEMPO OF THE GAME - MOVE THE CHAINS, BE EFFICIENT CREATE BIG PLAYS & FINISH = SCORE

3 OFFENSIVE PLAYER BE THE AGGRESSOR – Find ways to hit and be physical at all positions. EXECUTE – Do your job, communicate, ultimate focus! No secrets. INTIMIDATE WITH EFFORT – PLAY THROUGH THE WHISTLE! SCORE MENTALITY – Any time you touch the ball expect to score -“GO SCORE!” PLAY WITH EMOTION & TRUST “WIN THE SCHEME!” An offensive player’s value is judged by the amount of TRUST each player in the huddle has in THEM to get their job done.

4 OFFENSIVE POSITIONS

5 OFFENSIVE ALIGNMENTS OL & Y-TE = Horizontal – 2 foot splits, Vertical – Helmet split back of Center. (3 pt)  X & Z Receivers = 15 yards from ball – X on the line, Z off the line. Max is +3 (18 yds) Minus is -3 (12 yds). QB arm strength most important. If two receivers to same side the #2 WR will split the difference between #1 WR & End man on LOS.  FB = Heels at 4 yards depth (3 pt)  TB = Heels as 6 yards – deepen if TB is faster and getting to the hole too quick (2 pt)  QB = Under center 1-2 yds depth, Gun - heels at 5 yds depth

6 HUDL CENTER ALWAYS SETS HUDL 5-7 YARDS FROM THE BALL
PLAYERS SHOULD BE IN POSITION TO SEE AND HEAR QB THE QB HAS COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE HUDDLE – 1 VOICE TEMPO! GET UP – GET SET – GET OFF! PLAY CALL: FORMATION, MOTION, RUN DIRECTION/PASS PROTECTION, PLAY Ex: Right 26 Power or Lt Zoom 26 power SNAP COUNT: Non-Rhythmic Quick = “Ready, Go” Regular = “Ready, Set, Color #, Color #, Go”

12 OFFENSIVE RUN GAME Play call will give two numbers – 1st = who carries the ball, 2nd = gap/hole we want to run the ball to. Based on play call OL should know what gap they are responsible for. Then they should figure out which defensive player is in their gap and block them. Essentially butt to gap/hole. Man in gap block him Man on you block him Step to gap & climb to 2nd level. Be aware of help calls & trap/pull plays  Scheme play-side – cut-off/scoop back-side Scheme 1st & 2nd level – block 1st level first If you move the 1st level you’ll block the 2nd level

Need to run the ball to be effective at throwing the ball Majority of big plays come from our throw game – Play action = defense in Run-Pass conflict Get the ball to playmakers – know your personnel Read players / progression – not coverage Simple protections – OL spend majority of time in run game preparations Route concept = 1 word
