5 Bereavement Allowance
The claimant must Be aged 45 or over when their spouse died Not be in receipt of widowed parents allowance

6 Bereavement Allowance
From 9th April 2001 existing Widows Pension will be replaced with BEREAVEMENT ALLOWANCE Can be claimed by both Men & Women on the death of their spouse for 52 weeks from date of bereavement. Claim on Form BB1

7 Bereavement Allowance
The deceased must have either Met the NI contribution conditions OR Their death was caused by their job

8 Bereavement Allowance
The claimant must Be aged 45 or over when their spouse died Not be in receipt of widowed parents allowance

9 Bereavement Payment Apply on Form BB1 One off Payment
Based on late husband or wife’s NI contributions Lump sum £2000

10 Widowed Parent’s Allowance
Claim on Form BB1 Formerly Widowed Mother’s allowance Regular payment For widow/ers bringing up children Based on late husband/wife’s NI contributions Basic allowance £75.50

11 Funeral Payment Claim on Form SF200
How will shortfall in funeral costs be paid? Any Insurance policies will be taken into account Maximum of £700 towards Funeral Director’s fees
