2 European Legislation in the Field of Safety/Health Signs and Signals
The Language of Safety and Health Signs and Signals in Wood Industry No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP European Legislation in the Field of Safety/Health Signs and Signals Council Directive of 12 June 1989 on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work (89/391/EEC) Objective To ensure a higher degree of protection of workers at work through the implementation of preventive measures to guard against accidents at work and occupational diseases, and through the information, consultation, balanced participation and training of workers and their representatives.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP Council Directive 89/654/EEC of 30 November 1989 concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the workplace (first individual directive within the meaning of Article 16 (1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) Objective To introduce minimum measures designed to improve the working environment, in order to guarantee a better standard of safety and health protection.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP Council Directive 89/655/EEC of 30 November 1989 concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of work equipment by workers at work (second individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16 (1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) Objective Implementation of the minimum requirements for concrete measures concerning the use of work equipment, to improve health and safety for workers.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP Council Directive of 27 November 1980 on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to chemical, physical and biological agents at work (80/1107/EEC) Objective To harmonize national provisions relating to the protection of workers by measures to prevent exposure to certain chemical, physical and biological agents, or to keep it at as low a level as is possible.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP Council Directive 92/58/EEC of 24 June 1992 on the minimum requirements for the provision of safety and/or health signs at work (ninth individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16 (1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) Objective To introduce a Community system of safety signs designed to reduce the risk of accidents at work and occupational diseases.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP GENERAL PROVISIONS The Directive is designed to extend the content of Council Directive 77/576/EEC, which it replaces, and to consolidate some of that directive's provisions.

Bulgarian Legislation in the Field of Safety/Health Signs and Signals Law on Safety and Health at Work Тhis Law regulates the rights and responsibilities of the State, employers, employees, ones who are self employed or work in association with others, other organizations and juridical bodies in order to provide safe and health work environment.

No – LLP – 2007 – 1 – BG – Leonardo – LMP Ordinance No. 4 on safety, health and fire prevention signs and signals The safety/health and fire prevention signs are used at workplaces where different hazards, which can not be removed by technical means, means of collective protection or other methods, exist. The use of safety/health and fire prevention signs and signals does not repeal the obligations to observe the determined requirements on safety and fire prevention at work.
