2. Proper Noun Proper nouns are always capitalized
They are words that name a particular person, place, or thing
Example:
Mount Rushmore
The Gettysburg Address
War of 1812

3. Capitalizing Historical Events and Documents
The names of important historical events and documents are also proper nouns and should be capitalized
Example:
A war: the American Revolutionary War
A document: the Declaration of Independence

4. Capitalizing Titles
Titles of: books, stories, and essays are proper nouns (always Capitalized)
Do NOT: capitalize small words (and, of, and the), unless they are in the title
Example:
Book: Treasure Island
Story: “Old Stormalong and the Octopus”

5. Capitalizing Languages, People’s Names, and Nationalities
Examples:
Languages: English, Spanish, and French
Peoples’ Names: Alfred Bulltop Stormalong, Paul Bunyan
Nationalities: Canadian, Spanish and French
