What do students learn in Spanish 3?
These are some of the communication skills students will focus on: Narrating events in the past Expressing opinions using the subjunctive mood Giving advice using formal and informal commands Discussing mental, physical, and social wellness Using Spanish to learn and communicate about art, indigenous cultures of Latin America, cultural fusion, and to understand cultural perspectives on all of the topics we study.
5
Assessment Grades are based on participation and practice (30%) and MYP assessments and other projects (70%). Assignments and assessments will incorporate all four modalities: listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as grammar and culture.
6
Grading Policies Grades will be updated on the Parent Portal every two weeks; late assignments may take that long to be entered. Late assignments (unexcused) will be penalized by 50%. Unexcused absences on test days will result in a zero for the test. Students with excused absences should make up their missed tests within two days of returning to school. Extra Credit is not available, however, re-takes will be permitted on certain assessments.
7
Materials Students will use the Realidades 3 textbook. There are many online features of the textbook, which can be helpful when reviewing for a test. If students will continue on in Spanish, they will probably want to download a dictionary app, like WordReference. Students will also read at least two short novels this year. Those will be checked out from the Media Center.

Communication/Concerns
The most efficient way to contact me is via , or an through the parent portal: I also use the Remind app to communicate with students. Parent-teacher conferences are Tuesday, October 3rd, 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, October 11th 4-8 p.m. I am usually available after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for extra help, but students should arrange that with me in advance.
