The remaining 80 or so animals now persist because of continual shooting of wolves from helicopters.

8. New Castle Provincial Park = 302 km2 = 275 km of designated motorized vehicle trails
+ gravel and paved roads, truck trails, cutlines and other linear disturbances = another 399 km
Total linear disturbances in the PP of 674 km or 2.2 km / km2 of PP

9. New Castle Wildland Park = 737 km2 = 205 km of designated motorized vehicle trails or 0.3 km / km2.
+ other linear disturbances totalling another 306 km
Total linear disturbances in the WPP of 511 km or 0.7 km / km2 of PP.

11. When combined = 1,039 km2, = 475 km of designated motorized vehicle trails = 0.5 km / km2.
In addition there are other linear disturbances =705 km
Total linear disturbances = 1,185 km = 1.1 km / km2.
