Clamp on Measurement By measuring the current through clamp on sensors, the 3169 is able to measure the power without cutting the wire. Safe measurement The biggest advantage of clamp on input is that you do not have to cut the wire for measurement. The current can be measured easily by clamping the wire. Also, clamp on input is a safer method than direct input to the instrument.

Product Overview - 2 Reactive power meter method available
Simultaneous integrated power measurement and harmonic analysis Short period interval (1 cycle at the fastest) Multiple circuit measurement by common voltage (4x1P2W, 2x3P3W2M) The reactive power meter method makes the same measurement as a reactive power meter that is often installed for large electric consumers. Harmonic analysis can be made simultaneously during normal power integration measurement. The measurement interval can be set from every cycle, which is equal to 20ms on a 50Hz line, up to to 60 minutes. Also, by using the voltage input commonly, Model 3169 can measure multiple circuits simultaneously for 1-phase and 3-phase installations.

Reactive Power Meter Method
Measures by the same calculation to the reactive power meter often installed for large power consumers. The reactive power is measured directly from voltage and current. The power factor value does not reflect any harmonic component in this method. Model 3169 uses the reactive power meter method which measures the reactive power directly from voltage and current. This method is the same as the one used on reactive power meters that is often installed for large power consumers. On the other hand, the normal method calculates the reactive power from the active and apparent powers. By using this reactive power meter method, the power factor is calculated by the fundamental frequency only without the harmonic component. The normal method calculates the power factor including the harmonic components, so that the power factor becomes worse when the harmonic current becomes bigger.
13
Harmonic Analysis Simultaneous harmonic analysis and integrated power measurement Model 3169 can conduct harmonic analysis up to the 40th order simultaneously for normal power integration measurement. You can change the normal measurement screen and harmonic analysis screen freely during the measurement. In harmonic analysis, you can record the voltage and current waveforms.

In addition, by using the reactive power meter method, you can judge the LEAD or LAG from the harmonic voltage or current phase angle. -90

Short Period Interval Normal mode: 1/2/5/10/15/30s, 1/2/5/10/15/30min
Fast mode: 1 cycle, 0.1/0.2/0.5s 1min or longer interval is required to save the harmonic analysis data. Recording is made for the instantaneous values only in the Fast mode. MAX/MIN/AVE values can be recorded for each interval in the Normal mode. Model 3169 can record the instantaneous RMS values in very short intervals. In the fastest interval, you can record for every cycle which is equal to 20ms on a 50Hz line. In normal mode, the maximum, minimum and average values within every interval are recorded. Since the calculation is made for every cycle, the peak value is correctly recorded as the maximum value.
16
Advantages of Fast Interval Measurement
Detailed trend monitoring for the frequently changing load like molding machine, elevator and copy machine, etc. Details of in-rush current measurement On Model 3169, the peak value is correctly recorded as MAX value even in the slower interval. Now, let’s think about the advantages of fast interval measurement. First, detailed fluctuation recording is possible for frequently changing loads like those found on molding machines and elevators. Another piece of familiar equipment that bears the same characteristics is the copy machine. In addition, fast mode is effective for measuring the in-rush current when starting a motor. If the details are not necessary and knowing the maximum value is sufficient, you can record longer by measuring in normal mode which outputs less amount of data to store. As explained previously, Model 3169 can record the maximum value of every interval based on the calculation for every cycle. We will show you the actual data in fast mode during the explanation for the Model 9625 PC software.

As you can see, all data within the interval is output in the timing of auto output. Multiple Circuit Measurement
Multiple circuit measurement possible with common voltage. 4 x 1P2W circuit 2 x 1P3W circuit 2 x 3P3W circuit (in 2 meter method) By using the voltage input commonly, Model 3169 can be utilized to measure multiple circuits. Simultaneous measurement is possible for 4 circuits in 1-phase 2-wire, 2 circuits in 1-phase 3-wire and 3-phase 3-wire 2-meter mode.
19
3P3W2M or 3P3W3M 3P3W2M (2-meter method) 3P3W3M (3-meter method)
Use 2 current inputs only. Power and power factor of each phase are meaningless. 3P3W3M (3-meter method) Use 3 current inputs. Both value of each phase and sum value are effective for power. I just mentioned the 3-phase 3-wire 2-meter method. In fact, Model 3169 also provides a 3-meter method for a 3-phase 3-wire circuit. What is the difference between the 2-meter method and 3-meter method? In the 2-meter method, Model 3169 is connected to 2 phases. Then, the SUM value is obtained by vector calculation. By this method, SUM value is correct even on an unbalanced circuit, but we must recognize that the values for each phase is meaningless although they are displayed. On the other hand, 3-meter method requires that you connect to all 3 phases. With this measurement method, the values of each phase are correctly measured.
20
Wiring Check Wiring diagram is displayed for easy wiring
Check wiring using vector diagram. Model 3169 offers a wiring check function as you can see. You can check the wiring using the vector diagram after completing the wiring. By using this function, you can be sure that you are making the wirings correctly to avoid the loss of data caused by incorrect wiring. However, please note that this function is not perfect for all. Therefore, please pay careful attention when you make wiring.
21
Polarity Indication Independent integration for WP+(consumption) and WP- (regeneration) as well as WQ+ (lag) and WQ- (lead). Integration of active power and reactive power can be made for each positive and negative polarity separately. You can then identify the consumption or regeneration of active power as well as lead or lag of reactive power.

9625 Power Measurement Support Software
Easy analysis and report editing Handle multiple data files simultaneously Model 9625 Power Measurement Support Software helps your data analysis and report editing on a PC. The details will be introduced in the demonstration later, so that I would like to introduce its main features in brief now. First, Model 9625 can handle multiple data files simultaneously. This helps when comparing the data recorded at the same time but at difference places is necessary.
23
Functions of Model 9625 Able to handle the data of 3166 and 3169 (Binary or CSV data). Create the time-plot, summary report, daily/weekly/monthly report. Model 9625 can process measurement data taken with Model 3169 as well as its popular predecessor Model 3166. Some of you may already have Model Model 9625 is an effective data analysis tool for that model as well. The software provides time series graphs, summaries as well as daily, weekly or monthly reports. In addition, a harmonic list, harmonic graph, harmonic waveform and unit settings can be displayed on the PC.
24
What happens at a power outage?
There is no power consumption under the “Power outage” situation. Model 3169 acts as follows under this situation. Clock: Keeps running Settings: All settings retained Data retained right up until power outage. (before 10s for fast interval mode) After power recovery, measurement resumes and records “0” during outage Some of you may wonder what happens if a power outage occurs, because Model 3169 uses an AC power supply. As there is no power consumption during a power outage, the important question is whether or not Model 3169 can still store the data before the outage took place, and then resume measurement after power recovery. The answer is “YES” for both. The data before the outage is retained and the measurement is automatically re-started upon power recovery. However, we cannot assure that data is stored if the power outage occurs just when Model 3169 is accessing to its internal or PC Card memory.
25
Summary Model 3169 is an ideal portable clamp on power meter for saving energy and power management activities. Saving energy is kind to the environment as well as benefits for cost saving. Model 3169 is ideal for power measurement in various situations. It is effective for power management for environment protection. In addition, it is a powerful tool for saving energy activities which is directly connected to cost reduction.
