3 Limparfait You start with the nous form of a verb You drop the –ons ending. Chanter: nous chantons: The stem you will use is chant

4 Les terminaisons jeais tu ais ilait elle on nousions vousiez ilsaient elles

5 chantais chantait chantions chantiez chantaient

6 You use limparfait when you are: – setting the scene – describing something – talking about habitual or repeated actions – the action has no real beginning or ending

7 They were working. Ils travaillaient. She was finishing. Elle finissait. We were giving the book back. Nous rendions le livre.

8 There are three irregulars: – être ét – falloir il fallait – pleuvoiril pleuvait

9 cer and ger verbs -cer verbs will add the ç in all forms except the nous and vous! This is different than the present. -ger verbs will add the - e in all forms except the nous and vous!
