STAR(Standardised Test for the Assessment of Reading) Reading tests
STAR test is a computerised item banked adaptive test of reading accuracy and comprehension. The program has a huge question bank and is clever enough to recognise questions already presented before and will test with different questions so every STAR test is different. The test gives a scaled score. This is the most important piece of information and tracking using this is most accurate and shows progress. It is criterion based. Reading Age and Percentile Rank is Norm Referenced, i.e. compares a pupil to similar pupils nationally and is an estimate.

These tables show growth in STAR assessment from previous to Autumn2.
Growth in Scaled Score. All above target for scaled score for Autumn term 25+ is on track 50+ is exceptional All year groups have made exceptional progress in their scaled score. Pupils are expected to make atleast 75+ in a year.

Growth in percentile rank. Percentile Rank expresses student ability relative to the scores of other students of a similar age nationally.

Growth in Norm Referenced Scaled Score. Change of NRSS (+2 points change in NRSS indicates good quality teaching)
