Emergency Landings Without Engine Power  Airspeed – 75 KIAS Flaps UP 70 KIAS Flaps DOWN What is best distance speed (75) and lowest sink rate (60) Mixture – Idle Cut OFF Fuel Selector Value OFF Ignition Switch OFF Wing Flaps – AS REQUIRED (FULL Recommended) Master Switch OFF Doors – UNLATCH PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN Touchdown – SLIGHTLY TAIL LOW Brakes – APPLY HEAVILY

11 DITCHING Radio – TRANSMIT MAYDAY on giving location and intentions and SQUAWK 7700 Heavy Objects SECURE or JETTISON Flaps º to FULL Power – ESTABLISH 300 FT/MIN DESCENT at 65 KIAS Approach – High Winds, Heavy Seas – INTO THE WIND Light Winds, Heavy Swells – PARALLEL TO SWELLS Note if no power is available, approach at 75 KIAS with flaps up or at 70 KIAS with 10 º flaps. Cabin Doors – UNLATCH Touchdown -- LEVEL ATTITUDE AT ESTABLISHED DESCENT Face – CUSHION at touchdown with folder coat. Airplane – EVACUATE through cabin doors. If necessary, open window and flood cabin to equalize pressure so doors can be opened. Life Vests and Raft – INFLATE out side of cabin
