Matter Matters By : Owen Babich
2
What is matter? What is matter? Matter is what every human, Animal, and object is made of. For example If you have a car your car is made up of matter everything is. There are 4 different states of matter there is Liquid, solid, gas, and plasma but I’ll only really be explaining the 3 main ones Solid, Gas, and of course liquid. Everything made up of matter has Atoms inside of it. Atoms are atomic matter made up of interacting subatomic particles usually a nucleus of protons and neutrons, and a whole bunch of orbiting electrons.
3
Gas Gas has the most mobile particles of any of the states of matter the particles in gas are totally free to move around where ever it is that they want. If your boiling a liquid and it evaporates into a gas then the particles will be even faster because of the heat will cause them to move faster. The best example for a gas is boiling water and it turns into steam. When a gas physically transforms into a liquid the transformation is called condensation, when a gas transforms into a solid the transformation is called deposition.

Solid Solid is one of the three states of matter. Solid is different from liquid and gas, because both liquid and gas have no defined shape. Solids resemble liquids in having a definite volume, but differ from both liquids and gases in having a definite shape. The particles of a solid are very close together and have almost no space in between them so the particles can only vibrate. The molecules of a liquid or gas are free to move around, those of a solid have less energy and are held in their places by intermolecular forces

Liquid Liquids are another one of the states of matter. Liquids for example like Milk, water, and orange juice, are the state of matter where most of the particles can move around but they are mostly still very close together but they can move. They usually move by just sliding around or over top of each other. When a liquid makes a physical transformation into a solid the process is called solidification and when a liquid transforms into a gas it’s called evaporation.
