2 Goals The goal of the International Hybrid Learning Space is to build assessable state-of-the-art educational content in a field of Digital Art. It should brings cooperation cross Russian universities on the higher professional level. 3 Goals The on-line courses form a basic platform for teaching Digital Art disciplines. On-line courses are like a mirror of the more traditional off-line courses at the Master Program of Digital Art. There are a strong differences between the off-line educational forms and on-line, that is way it was necessary to reorganize and rebuild all teaching materials to fits new modern educational forms. 5 User roles To go dipper in our educational portal we should look at the User’s Roles firstly. These roles are specific for our project and they were formed by our consortium. They forms a base of specification for the future development. 6 User roles Guest Guest is non auth user. This role has minimum options: reading information about the project, members list and general description. Guest can fill the registration form. 7 User roles Auth User User of this role has already account in a system and signed in. Auth User can apply for courses and be invited for courses by Teacher as well. 8 User roles Student Auth User becomes a Student when Teacher approves him. After the enrolments in a one course, Student gets access to all other courses in a system. 9 User roles Teacher Teacher has a full access to the educational materials in his course. He can create courses and control student activities. Teacher can create courses structure by adding new elements like lecture, test, students list and etc. Usually Teacher just teach the course, it means that content of the course might be formed by other role. It is possible to invite of the one course several teachers. 10 User roles Teacher Assistant
This role has an access to all courses by one university. Teacher Assistant may creates courses and invites Teachers on them. Also Teacher Assistant provide all necessary help for teachers. University Administrator has similar technical role as a Teacher Assistant, but has more administration connection with university departments. 12 LMS and Frameworks Analysis of the existent LMS and review of the experience of top on-line education companies shows that “old-school” frameworks are not widely used. It happened because there is hard (or even impossible) to implement modern web concepts using the old realization’s paradigm. 13 LMS and Frameworks We used open cloud based education platform FlyingFrog to achieve our specification. This core of this platform works on a separate host and provides API for the client Web application. 14 LMS and Frameworks The realization of the platform based on Apache web server, PHP as a programming language for the dynamic content manipulation. To increase the working speed on the high load we used NGNIX server for the static content access. 15 LMS and Frameworks We use NoSQL storage for the content. Different content structure in the education courses determines the type of the storage: it is documentary storage MohgoDB. It fits our purposes ideally. We used GridFS interface to manipulate JSONs on a storage. 16 LMS and Frameworks Each course consists of the set of elements. Elements could be added to the course or be removed on a fly. The course element is a standalone web-application. This provides fully flexible system for the customization of each course by teacher goals. Element uses REST API to access the course data, roles instructions and other necessary information. 18 Scenario University Administrators with Teacher Assistants create courses. They add elements to the courses flowed the type of education model or concept. Then they may invite a Teacher and upload education materials with a help of the Teacher. After this Teacher may send an invitation to students. Students may apply for the course by them self in this way teacher should approve them. 19 Scenario Teacher can form students in a different groups and open them materials in a different time, for example. It is possible to build the individual education way for student if needed. 20 Scenario Student get access to that course elements that are open for him by Teacher. For instance the final test could be open only at the end of course. Basic course elements are: lection notes, student list, tests, notes, files, marks list. More advanced courses may provide to students more interesting elements like MOOC content. 21 Results Our web portal works from Each university from our consortium upload 3 courses at list. There are more then 500 students signed in a system. A day visiting rate goes about 50 users. There are more then 15 course books upload in a system.
