Care & Repair Services Care & Repair is a home improvement/ independent living, community service In the homes of 12-15,000 each year It enables through a home visit and a ‘problem-led, person-centred’ approach It has an unique blend of casework (people) and technical (housing fabric) All agencies have a home maintenance service – Handyperson Service

Client details, health, hopes & aspirations Focus on the home environment Welfare & rights Digital, financial inclusion and wider access Reducing the risks to independent living Falls – Home Safety – Warmth > Increased Confidence

Technical Services Technical advice on building work
Property survey and scheduling Drawings and specifications Adherence to CDM & legal aspects Health & Safety Tendering, liaising with council, contractor engagement/recommendation, supervising work, quality

Managing Better Service
Basic approach is traditional Care & Repair services supporting independent living Greater awareness of communication needs & challenges related to sensory loss Reducing risk for falls & home safety from sensory loss (there before the need arises) Providing confidence, rights to access & adhering to Visibly Better standards

Added-Value Services Increasing awareness of sensory loss and impact on likelihood/risk of a fall Partnerships with statutory partners and intermediate care/reablement/community services for referral on (60% self referrals) Fast-track adaptations and RRAP solutions Address cold homes as underlying falls risk Broker in funding for tailored solutions

Personalised assessment picks up complex health issues & develops a bond of trust Brief intervention approach – akin to conversations with mamgus & dadcus Link falls history to housing risks (hot-spots) Prompt for review of medication Prompt for mobility, safe footwear & exercise Prompt eye checks & nutrition/hydration

Housing Services: Health Outcome
Falls prevention and addressing housing hazards with adaptations for bathing, stairs, steps, seating, toilets, external surfaces, etc. Improved levels of warmth, addressing fuel poverty, energy efficiency – outcomes relating cold homes to falls (NICE) Telecare, assistive technology and improving personal safety
