Avalanches
An avalanche is a very large slide of snow or rock down a mountainside. It’s caused when a buildup of snow is released down a slope. It is a major danger in the mountains. It is caused by sounds or shockwaves of sounds. It is dangerous and sometimes deadly.

A phenomenon that results from a sudden release of stored energy in the Earth’s crust. This creates seismic waves. They can destroy cities.

An eruption at the weak spots of the Earth’s crust, where it is easiest for magma to burst through. Extremely hot. It cools down and turns black.

A series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean is rapidly displaced on a massive scale. The name is Japanese and it causes major floods.

A drought is a period of time when there is not enough water to support agricultural, urban, human, or environmental water needs. This can wipe out a city. It occurs over time and results in a loss of food for the population.

A flood is an overflow of water. It is an expanse of water that submerges land.

A violently rotating column of air which is in contact with both a cloud base and the surface of the Earth. The warm and cold air mix together.

13. Tsunamis
A tropical cyclone characterized by a low pressure center and thunderstorms. This results in strong winds and flooding rain. The rainstorms cause flooding and the winds cause damage.

14. Forest Fires
A forest fire is an uncontrollable fire, often occurring in wild land areas. It can consume houses or agricultural resources. It is difficult to stop the spread.

15. Ice Storms
A severe weather condition with freezing precipitation. Such a storm forms a glaze on objects, creating hazardous travel conditions and horrible living conditions. Loss of power frequently occurs, sometimes for extended periods of time.
