4. Independence Day-September 15, 1821
After shortly being a part of the Mexican empire and the Central American Confederation, became its own republic in 1838
Afterwards, over 300 horrid events occurred; civil wars, rebellions, and many changes of government.

5. As of 1979, the country decided that it would be best if it fell under rule of their civilians. A new constitution was approved in 1982, and a man named Roberto Suazo of the Liberty Party of Honduras(LPH) assumed power.
He promised to take care of the country's recession and while this happened, he lead the country to become host to one of the largest Peace Corp missions in the world.

7. The Copan Ruins are on the Western side of Honduras, around 60 kilometers from the border of Guatemala.
Copan was the dominant city in the southern territory. Its stone and hieroglyphics make it a huge attraction.

People of Honduras believe that it was Christopher Columbus that named the country because after a brutal storm, he said, “Gracias a Dios que hemos dejado estas Honduras,” which translated to thank God we have left these depths. That is why the children were taught that he was the reason an area on the northern part of the country was called Gracias a Dios ("Thank God").

10. The Famous 5, a group of women who fought for women’s rights are as follows;
Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, and Irene Parlby
In 1929, they opened the doors for women to be allowed in the Senate.
