2 Civil Engineer Civil engineers design, build, supervise, operate, and take care of construction projects and systems in the public and private areas Ex : Roads, Sewage, Bridges, Water Supply This suits me since I love to have adaptable skills that’ll help others I love to create, and fix problems

3 Why a Civil Engineer? Salary is ideal = Approx. 80k a year can increase I’ve wanted to be an Engineer of some sort This type of work won’t take a toll on my body Work I am capable of doing

4 Short Term Goals Graduate completing Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Math and Computer Science Study harder by reviewing my Math homework since Math is my weak point Gain entrance to UBC for Civil Engineering program

5 Long Term Goals Become an Engineering Project Manager after attaining my diploma or degree (Masters) in Civil Engineering

6 Skills High Math/Science and IT Skills are required
Being able to explain my plans to others To be able to analyze large amounts of data Communication Skills To be able to work with a team of people Understand the budget you have to complete the project Great Project Management Skills

7 Years of Education Roughly 4 years for my Bachelors Degree
For a Masters I’d have to add an extra couple years of schooling

Undergraduate Program at UBC - leads to the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering First two years consist of fundamental courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and structures The second year program introduces students to civil engineering through a design course In the third and fourth years, students are exposed to a variety of sub-disciplines, including environmental, geotechnical, hydro-technical, structural, and transportation engineering, also exposed to hands on experiences in Lab.
