What is a dissociative disorder?
A disorder that cause the sense of self to be separated (dissociated) from previous memories, thoughts, or feelings

Dissociative Amnesia Dissociative disorder characterized by the loss of memory triggered by a specific traumatic event. Two Types: Retrograde Amnesia: old memories, including those that occurred around the time of the traumatic event, are lost. Most common form Anterograde Amnesia: the ability to form new memories is lost. Rare, caused mostly by head trauma or brain disease

Dissociative Fugue Dissociative disorder characterized by the loss of identity and travel to a new location From the DSM-IV: Sudden, unexpected travel away from home or one's customary place of work, with inability to recall one's past, Confusion about personal identity, or the assumption of a new identity, or significant distress or impairment.

Dissociative Identity Disorder
Previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder A rare & complicated disorder where an individual experiences two or more distinct personalities and alternating personalities. Multiple-Personalities-Video
