NAMB UPDATE CURRENT ENGAGEMENTS ON ARTISAN DEVELOPMENT
NAD Provincial Strategy Consultative Road shows. Started in Sept and will end in Nov. Stakeholders urged to participate on proposed national Artisan Development Trade test pass rate and quality improvement strategy. NAD Strategy consultative conference is planned for 05 and 06 Dec 2016 to increase awareness on artisan careers, profiles and related matters. Stakeholders will be advised in due course and urged to participate.

ALL TRADE TEST OFFICERS AND TRADE TEST MODERATORS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER WITH NAMB. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RENDER TRADE TESTS AND MODERATIONS THAT ARE CONDUCTED BY THESE INDIVIDUALS INVALID PROVIDER ACCREDITATION WHEN A PROVIDER SEEKS TO APPLY FOR NAMB ACCREDITATION- ALL CHECKSLISTS THAT WILL BE USED DURING THE ACCREDITATION AUDIT ARE AVAILABLE ON THE CHIETA WEBSITE OR ARE AVAILBLE ON REQUEST FROM THE CHIETA

QCTO UPDATE RE-ALIGNMENT OF HISTORICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Due to time constraints, QCTO has directed that all historical qualifications within the primary focus of the SETAs can be re-aligned to assume the QCTO curriculum. CHIETA has applied to realign the following Historical Qualifications:

QCTO UPDATE (CONT) Part Qualifications
QCTO has circulated the concept paper approved by the QCTO council on part qualifications and it has been sent to SAQA for ratification. In this regard, the QCTO utilises the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) concept of Module of Employable Skills (MES) and their importance in the labour market towards alleviating unemployment as well as improving skills of those already in employment as the basis for the development of part qualifications A part qualification is defined in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as an assessed unit of learning that is registered as a part of a qualification Part qualifications will be registered on the NQF under OQSF as part of occupational qualifications. Part Qualifications are also made of the three standard components of learning occupational qualifications i.e. Knowledge/Theory, Practical Skills and Work Experience. All part qualifications will have an External Summative Integrated Assessment upon which those found competent will be certificated.

QCTO UPDATE (CONT) AQP (Assessment Quality Partner) related Work
Qualification Status Chemical Laboratory Analyst AQP SLA signed with the QCTO. QCTO will provide dates in for workshops to develop the QAS addendum (Blueprint) for the Assessment Specifications. Chemical Plant Operator QCTO will provide dates in for workshops to develop the QAS addendum (Blueprint) for the Assessment Specifications Maintenance Planner The Extension of Scope SLA has been signed between CHIETA and QCTO. QCTO will provide dates in for workshops to develop the QAS addendum (Blueprint) for the Assessment Specifications Gas or Petroleum Controller The CHIETA is recommended the AQP by the stakeholders and CEP. CHIETA to apply for the extension of scope with the QCTO after the DQP SLA has been signed.

QCTO UPDATE (CONT) QCTO requires AQPs to develop QAS Addendum per qualification before developing Assessment Tools for the following reasons: To ensure that external assessment measures occupational competence; To ensure that the agreed external assessment model/strategy is feasible; To guide the development of the external assessment tools; To guide the external assessment planning process; To ensure focus is on the appropriate cognitive levels.

Quality Assurance Partner (QAP) related Work
QCTO UPDATE (CONT) Quality Assurance Partner (QAP) related Work In the recent QAP forum held in Sept 2016, QCTO informed QAPs that it will start the process of taking over the Quality Assurance functions from the QAPs. The process to be followed will be communicated soon. In the interim, QCTO will collaborate with the QAPs on External Moderation. Communication to this effect will be sent to stakeholders.
