Civil war Conflict between one or more sides of the same nation The different sides want to defend their different ideologies, doctrines, positions or interests It took place from 1936 to 1939 It was a social, political and war conflict

4 Young men, women, boys and girls lost their lives
Republican political prisoners Bodies of several children killed during a nationalist air raid

5 PROPAGANDA OF THE TWO DIFFERENT PARTIES

6 The Spanish Civil War began because of the following circumstances:
An economy that couldn’t satisfy the needs of the people Huge social differences The government system worried about the economy, not about the important changes A society that was divided between two bans/sides. February of 1936, the popular front (left wing) won.

8 The exile ( ) Migration flow People who left their place of origin to move to another destination General Franco imposed a militar dictatorship: Revoked statutes of Catalonia and Basque Country Banned all the parties and workers association Forced everyone to be catholic Impeded freedom of expression Fired University democratic teachers

11 Causes of the Immigration
The victims of the fighting were more than half a million people: - Killed in combat - Executed by the winners after the war They piled up in refugee camps at the French coast or flew to Mexico or Argentina Serious impact in our demography

13 Consequences for the receiving countries
Immigrants who had a fairly high class were well received by other countries. People from low social classes weren’t well received, therefore, had to face social exclusion.

Social consequences: High racism Rejection between the two nationalities It was very difficult for them to integrate into society
