1 Lake County Testing Overview

2 Florida’s K-12 Statewide Assessment Program
Florida Standards Assessments: The Florida Standards Assessments, which measure student success with the Florida Standards, include assessments in English language arts (grades 3-10), mathematics (grades 3-8), and end- of-course assessments for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Statewide Science Assessment: The statewide science assessment measures student success with the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and includes assessments in grades 5 and 8.  EOC Assessments: The End-of-Course Assessments are computer-based tests designed to measure student achievement of the specified standards for middle- and high-school level courses in science (Biology 1), social studies (Civics and U.S. History), and mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2).  Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener: FLKRS is an observational tool that is completed teachers as they observe students during daily classroom activities. The results of this screening provide valuable information about a child’s readiness for school, help teachers develop lesson plans to meet each child’s individual needs and offer useful information to parents. National and International Assessments (NAEP, PIRLS, PISA, and TIMSS): National and state assessments enable us to know how well students are doing in a variety of subjects at different ages and grade levels. International assessments allow us the unique opportunity to benchmark our students' performance to the performance of students in other countries. Florida participates in several national (NAEP) and international (PIRLS, PISA, TIMSS) criterion-referenced surveys. (Randomly selected schools and students.) How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you. Paula Wicker, Testing Manager, Lake County Schools 1/11/2017

3 State Assessment for Specific Programs & Students
Grade 10 Reading/ELA Retakes: FCAT 2.0 Reading Retake and FSA ELA Retakes are offered to students in grade 11 and 12 who have not yet passed the respective state reading assessment required as a graduation requirement for their cohort. ACCESS for English Language Learners 2.0: The ACCESS for ELL’s 2.0 assessment measures English language acquisition for students who are English Language Learners. Florida Standards Alternate Assessment (FSAA): The FSAA is the assessment is designed for students whose participation in the general statewide assessment program is not appropriate. It measures student academic expectations written specifically for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Example objectives At the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Save files to the team Web server. Move files to different locations on the team Web server. Share files on the team Web server. 4 District Assessment Program
Lake Progress Monitoring Assessments: The Lake Standards Assessments are used to measure our students’ progress towards mastery of the Florida State Standards (grades 6-8 math, grades 6-10 English language arts and Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry) and Next Generation Standards (science grades 5 & 8, Civics, U.S. History and Biology 1). Students in kindergarten through grade 5 use IStation Reading, STAR Reading and iReady Math to monitor reading and math skills. College Board Assessments: The College Board suite of assessments are used for course placement and to measure students’ career and college readiness. Grade 8 and 9 students take the PSAT 8/9, grade 10 and 11 students take the PSAT/NMSQT and grade 11 students take the SAT. Ability Test: The Naglieri Non-Verbal Abilities Test Version 2 (NNAT 2) is a test of general ability for use with diverse student populations. It is used in grade 1 for gifted/talented identification. Lesson descriptions should be brief. Paula Wicker, Testing Manager, Lake County Schools 1/11/2017

5 District Assessment for Specific Programs & Students
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP): MAP is used as a progress monitoring tool for students in Personalized Learning classrooms. It measures students’ growth in reading and math skills to help teachers differentiate instruction. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT): PERT Reading, Writing and Math are taken by students who wish to qualify to dual enroll in Lake Sumter Community College. PERT Math also serves as a concordant score for the state Algebra 1 EOC which is a graduation requirement. It is given to students who have taken but not passed the state Algebra 1 EOC. 3rd Grade Alternate Promotion Tests: The SAT 10 is taken by students who score a level one on the state FSA ELA Reading test as an alternate path to promotion. iStation and STAR Reading tests are also approved by the state for this purpose. Example objectives At the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Save files to the team Web server. Move files to different locations on the team Web server. Share files on the team Web server. 14 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
The United States Congress passed ESSA and it was signed into law on December 10, 2015, amending the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. ESSA increases state authority on standards, assessments and interventions, and adds specific restrictions to the United States Secretary of Education's involvement in state decisions. State plan due dates are pushed back to either April 3 or September 18, 2017 according to Hershel Lyons, Florida Chancellor of Public Schools, in an memo dated December 16, 2016. States will be making decisions and exercising flexibility accordingly. To ensure Florida’s education stakeholders have the latest information on implementation decisions, sign up for updates at: Questions? FDOE at FDOE will announce additional opportunities for public input. Paula Wicker, Testing Manager, Lake County Schools 1/11/2017
