Computer science is fundamentally about computational problem solving. Programming and computers are only tools in the field of computing. The field has tremendous breadth and diversity. Areas of study include: Software Engineering Database Management / Data Mining Computer Networks Computer Graphics Computer Simulation Information Security Programming language Design Systems Programming Computer Architecture Human–Computer Interaction Robotics Artificial Intelligence

Yes! Computer science can be difficult but rewarding Even “good” students can find early CSC courses to be tough Dr. Vetter often talks about how it took him 3 semesters before he figured it out Work in any sector or industry Use your talents to solve real-world problems Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship are highly valued Unlimited opportunities for lifelong learning – in fact, it’s a given that you will be learning new skills throughout your career.
