2. Origins
Pop art originated in Britain in the 1950s and 1960s, thus being one of the most modern artistic movements.

3. A definition
Pop Art is a style of art which explores the everyday images.
Common sources of imagery include advertisements, consumer product packaging, celebrity photographs, and comic strips. Leading Pop artists include Andy Warhol, and Roy Lichtenstein.

4. Andy Warhol [American Pop Artist, 1928-1987]
ANDY WARHOL ( ) One of the first major ‘celebrity’ artists, gaining an international reputation and commercial success with his bold and original pieces. The most famous include the Campbell soup cans; the Marilyn Monroe work;
His death, after a routine operation, was followed by the revelation that he had left a fortune of around $100,000,000 (one hundred million dollars).

11. Robert Rauschenberg [American Pop Artist, born in 1925]
American painter, sculptor, printmaker, photographer and performance artist. While too much of an individualist ever to be fully a part of any movement, he acted as an important bridge between Abstract Expressionism and Pop art and can be credited as one of the major influences in the return to favour of representational art in the USA.
