The loose hippy feeling of the 60’s to tight pants and open shirts for men.

Laura Ashley- floral dresses were very popular in London
Stevie Nicks (biker style/western style)
Jane Birkin ( in French Vogue magazine,
Julie Christie (perm and curls)
Jacqueline Bissett (longer wavy hair)
Ali Macgraw (make up and eye brows)

4. What was the prominent silhouette?
The silhouette’s in the 1970s are kind of mixed in that people wore skin tight jump suits the you need to have a slender and small with no curves to pull off decently.
To wearing maxi dresses that just cover everything.
Hour glass silhouette was also a good thing.
Apples, slender, petite were also prominent to pull off the “hot pants” well.

Laura Ashley- floral dresses were said to be her major “look”
Vivienne Westwood- created the punk look
Diane Von Furstenburg – created the wrap dress style.
Roy Halston Frowick – created the jersey dress trend
Yves St Laurent – created the women trouser suits that became popular in the late 1960s but really came into the fashin industry in 1970s into the present day.

The trends of bright and bold in the 1970’s were taken mostly from inspiration in the '20s, '30s and '40s
The 60’s were a big influence on the 1970’s style like the tie dye and frayed edged denim
The 1970s got these styles: satin, ruffles, feminine colours, and bias cuts from styles in the 1930’s.

10. What historical moments occurred?
The first case of feral children was realized in the 1970s the little girls name was Genie.
In some states the drinking age was lowered from 21 to 19 or 18 but then changed back to 21 at a later date.
