Your health Triangle Physical – how well your body functions.
What are some factors that could influence your physical health? Ex- sleep Mental – feelings about yourself, how you meet demands of daily life, and your ability to process information Social – Involves the way you get along with others.

Health Triangle Each side is equally important to your health.. How you ask? *think of a tripod on which a camera is mounted – if one leg is shorter than the other, the tripod will fall. *An unbalanced health triangle is likely to cause you problems at some point. *they are interconnected *You need to take personal responsibility for establishing and impleneting health maintenance for all three sides

Influences on your health
Imagine that the story of your health were made into a movie..how would it look? What situations and people affected your health at all the stages of your life? How have influences on your health changed through your years? How do early influences still affect you today?

There are several important influences on your health… some such as: Heredity Environment Media and technology Your values, attitude and behavior. What are yours?

Social Environment This could include your family and other people with whom you come into contact each day with. As a teen, an important part of your social environment is your peers. These include your friends and classmates. Your peers can affect your health positively because they are good role models… how could they affect them in a negative way?

Culture Culture refers to the collective beliefs, customs, and behaviors of a group. This could be an ethnic group, community, nation, or specific part of the world. Understanding your culture positively affects your health because it can give you a sense of identity.

Attitude The way you view situations – your attitude – GREATLY affects the choices you make. Attitude can play a major role in health and wellness. Studies have shown that people who tend to see the positive in situations are more likely to have better health than those who see only the negative!

Behavior Although you have no control over your heredity, you have a great deal of control over YOUR behavior. Suppose your family has a history of heart disease. This doesn’t mean you will follow in their footsteps….BUT….. YOU can lower your risk of developing the disease by practicing healthy habits, like what?!

Behavior – YOUR CONTROL! Affects not only your physical health/emotional and social health. ex- learning how to resolve conflicts peacefully can have a positive influence on your relationships with others. Ex- risky behavior examples: smoking/DRINKING/drugs

MEDIA.. Internet is a good source of health information because it provides access to reliable sources of health information. Media- various methods of communicating information, including radio, television, film, newspaper, magazines, books and internet. Technology- impacted the health status of individuals, families, communities and the world. Positive advancements in the world of health and technology? Cancer screenings – find cancer sooner!
