Course participants will have the option to customize their learning experience by selecting topics and lab sessions based on their current level of experience and skill set. Lecture sessions will include didactic instruction and/or case-based presentations. Lab sessions will include a variety of anatomy-based dissections as well as surgical approach instruction at an appropriate level for each participant. Course Objectives At the end of this course, participants should have an increase in their ability to evaluate a patient with dentofacial deformities and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Participants should have an increase in the surgical skills most commonly used in the treatment of dentofacial deformities. During the registration process, participants will be asked to assess their current level of experience and to outline their educational goals for the program. Participants with similar learning objectives will be matched together for the lab session to ensure appropriate level of instruction by the faculty in the hands-on workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to work through patient cases to facilitate the learning objectives specific to the ability to diagnose a patient and to determine the appropriate treatment in order to achieve a successful patient outcome. Specifically, the faculty will facilitate discussion through case based learning and group exercises determining fusion levels. The hands-on workshop will focus on anatomy and surgical approaches for orthognathic surgery.
