1 Tracking Construction Projects Using Mobile Hand Held Devices
8 -10 June 10, Vancouver, British Columbia Tracking Construction Projects Using Mobile Hand Held Devices Mohamed Marzouk and Mohamed Zaher Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University Egypt

2 Development of “BIM Track” application Usage of “BIM Track” Case study
Outline Introduction Development of “BIM Track” application Supportive applications for BIM Track "BIM Track" Interface Usage of “BIM Track” Case study Limitations Conclusion

3 Introduction Construction progress requires a significant amount of manual work. Major developments in Mobile hand-held devices is in development. Portability and accessibility granted the Mobile hand-held devices a great advantage. Recent studies attempt to automate the process of construction site monitoring.

4 Development of "BIM Track"
MIT app Inverntor Primavera P6 R8.3 Revit 2014 Navisworks 2015 Autodesk 360 Fusion Tables Matlab 2014a Supportive applications for BIM Track

5 “BIM Track” interface Home Screen

6 “BIM Track” interface 5D simulation

7 “BIM Track” interface Updating and Tracking

8 “BIM Track” interface Updating and Tracking

9 Usage of “BIM Track” Gathering projects' essential data.
Viewing the Project in 5D simulation. Updating and Tracking the project through: Updating time schedule using fusion tables Image Analysis using Matlab

10 Case Study Project: Etisalat Misr HQ building
Location: Smart Village, Giza, Egypt. Area: 13,000 m2

11 Case Study “Image Analysis”
Transform RGB to Grey Scale image

12 Case Study “Image Analysis”
Convert Grey Scale to Binary Image

13 Case Study “Image Analysis”
Thresholding image on each colors' plane

14 Case Study “Image Analysis”
Reducing Image Noise Complementing the Image Filling Holes

15 Case Study “Image Analysis”
Results

16 Case Study “Fusion Tables”

17 Case Study “Fusion Tables”

18 Image Analysis: Fusion Tables: Limitations
Capturing position shall be fixed (e.g. Tower Crane). Capturing time is preferred to be same. Fusion Tables: Time Schedule Activities shall be well coded. Internet Access for updating

19 Conclusion Mobile hand-held devices can provide a powerful system for tracking construction projects. The objective of this study was to develop an android mobile application to aid in tracking projects. The application enables project to be: Monitored and tracked Ease the access to project’s information, Facilitates the visualization interaction through the 3D model
