prom dress code and guidelines Opelika High school

Why does OHS have a Prom dress code?
The administration and faculty want you to make good choices, not inhibit your style. Prom should be a fun and memorable evening for everyone. However, we want everyone to be comfortable and safe.

#1 Dresses may not be cut below the bust line.
The bust line continues around your side directly under the armpit. With your arms down by your side, if flesh touches flesh below the bust line, the dress is inappropriate. This dress meets dress code.
4
#2 Dresses may be backless; however, they may not be cut below the natural waist.
These dresses meet the dress code. Notice how the bust is covered on the side.
5
These dresses meet dress code.
#3 Dresses may not have the midriffs exposed including both the front and sides. With arms down by your side, if flesh touches flesh in the midriff section, the dress is inappropriate. These dresses meet dress code.
6
#4 Dresses may not be shorter or have a slit that exceeds 3 inches above the knee.
Dresses must be able to remain at 3 inches above the knee while walking and dancing in the dress. These dresses meet the dress code.

Other Dress Guidelines
Dresses may not be constructed with see-through fabrics such as: Tulle, Netting, or Illusion. No pinning will be allowed as an alteration for a dress if without the pins the dress does not meet the dress code. Fabric inserts must be sewn as alterations to the dress. No cover-ups (shawls/wraps, sweaters, coats) will be allowed over dresses that do not meet the dress code. Undergarments should not be visible.

#10 Formal Tuxedoes or Dress Suit (Coat & Tie) for Gentlemen

Prom Pictures Attire for pictures should meet the dress code. Students will not be allowed to wear an inappropriate dress or suit for pictures and then change into appropriate attire to attend prom.
10
While we will be reasonable in our interpretation of these guidelines, students and guests dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to enter or attend prom. Attention: You will not be allowed to pin dresses to make them meet guidelines while waiting to enter prom. See guideline #6.
