WHY ASSESSMENT? Assessment is cumulative, and a true reflection of your yearly progress It covers all outcomes of your courses The assessment result will be used should a problem with your final examination occur

SENIOR YEARS AT JFHS There is a true school based senior culture at JFHS Once you have made your decision on whether to earn or learn, you commit yourself to learning You must show yourself to be capable of independent study

HOW IS ASSESSMENT ARRIVED AT?
Teachers of HSC and Preliminary classes organise tasks that will reflect the syllabus requirements, covering all course outcomes Teachers submit their assessment schedules to executive for a balance of tasks and a double check for compliance with subject requirements The schedule is placed in a booklet with school procedures and board requirements

HOW IS ASSESSMENT ARRIVED AT?
Students undertake the tasks and are appropriately marked and ranked by their teachers. Assessment results are collated and sent to the Board of Studies.

HOW IS ASSESSMENT ARRIVED AT?
The HSC examination is sat by the candidature. The HSC scripts are marked by examiners hired by the Board for each subject. The raw result is sent to the Board for the final HSC result.

HOW IS ASSESSMENT ARRIVED AT?
The final HSC result is a mark that considers: The assessment mark submitted by the teacher The raw examination mark Varied factors eg. peer cohort, ranking and judge marking 50% assessment and 50% raw mark are the contributors to the final HSC result

SO THE VALUE OF ASSESSMENT IS….
Ensuring that all tasks are completed to the best of ability Gaining an appropriate rank in the course for your centre Gaining the best mark you can, for sometimes, you may not sit your HSC final examination!

WHEN YOU ARE AT RISK OF NOT FULFILLING COURSE REQUIREMENTS…
The class teacher will warn the student in varied ways, but formally with a Board of Studies Warning letter The BOS letters are discussed each week by executive With three letters in one course, HSC Preliminary is compromised

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH ASSESSMENT?
BE ORGANISED and PLAN AHEAD Complete all tasks to the best of your ability Consult with your teachers often and always
