3 Goals for this Session By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Explain the composition and purpose of the Georgia Milestone Assessment System; Outline the specific types of items that students can expect on the exam; Identify ways to find resources to support and prepare students for the Georgia Milestone Assessment System. Steph: The goals of this session are to ensure that participants can explain the new Georgia Milestone Assessment System, explain the types of questions that students will see on the new assessment, understand how the new assessment is different from CRCT and EOCT and identify ways to support students.

5 A Blended Approach: Criterion-Referenced and Norm-Referenced
Georgia Milestones will provide: criterion-referenced performance information in the form of four performance levels, depicting students’ mastery of state standards (beginning, developing, proficient & distinguished) norm-referenced performance information in the form of national percentiles, depicting how students’ achievement compares to peers nationally Natalie

6 General Test Parameters
ELA will consist of 3 sections, 1 of which will focus mainly on writing Mathematics will consist of 2 sections Science will consist of 2 sections, Grade 5 ONLY Social Studies will consist of 2 sections, Grade 5 ONLY Each section will be approximately 70 minutes. Natalie

to eat a healthy breakfast each morning . to not worry about the tests. If they are worried, have them talk with a teacher or school counselor. you to be their biggest cheerleader! Students will be reviewing the things they have learned all school year. They need confidence that they know the information and will do well on the tests. help remembering that these tests are just one look at what they know. Their class work, projects, and other tests will also show their teachers how much they have learned throughout the year. to try their best! Steph
