Travel – Erin Carlson helps us with tips
These are the main reasons a TER is returned: For all conferences, workshops, etc., the agenda and/or brochure must be included for reimbursement. If mileage is being claimed (from home to the airport), a MapQuest or similar print out showing the miles traveled needs to be attached as part of the claim. Rental vehicles must be approved in advance and checked on travel requests. Documentation in the Travel Summary report must be included to show that this request was approved in advance and necessary for the purpose of the trip. If a hotel includes breakfast – even a continental breakfast – this must be deducted from the per diem. Airplane meals, however, do not count toward the per diem. 12

Travel – Erin Carlson helps us with tips
These are the main reasons a TER is returned: Per diem reimbursement cannot be for an amount lesser than the amount shown in the M & IE breakout columns. For example; if the per diem allows $12 for breakfast – Then you need to request $12 for breakfast. A Travel Summary Report is a required form for all travel and must be included for reimbursement to be made. Foreign travel. Please print the daily conversion rates from Oanda.com and submit these with request for reimbursement. Reimbursement must be based on the currency value of each day of travel. It cannot calculated based on when the travel request is being processed for payment. 13

IT – Iain highlights enhanced cybersecurity
We all need to increase our cultural awareness and compliance with cybersecurity and best practices. Business IT will continue to implement improved practices in cybersecurity, also bringing the Project more in line with NCSA’s DM practices. E.g.: Having Failover Sites outside of Tucson. All Staff will be required to make yearly renewals of AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and password changes. LSST will be investigating Personal Certificates and 2-step authentication IT-Cyber Training Sessions (compliance requirement for everyone) 14

IT services Don’t just Iain. Use the IT list serve: There is much useful IT information found on the Project Intranet page. Take advantage while you’re here and ask Iain Goodenow, our Lead Systems Administrator, any questions you may have. 15
