5. Read Write Inc
All Year 1 pupils will be having Read Write Inc phonics and reading sessions 4x a week. There will be a comment from your child’s RWI teacher at the end of each week in their Reading Diary.
More information will be given at the Literacy meeting on Wednesday 21st September.

7. Maths Mastery
We are teaching maths using a new Maths Mastery scheme this year. All Year 1 children will also take part in ‘Maths Moments’ throughout the week. Ask your child if they can remember some of the songs and rhymes they have already learnt. More information will be given at the Maths meeting on Tuesday 27th September (7-8pm).

13. Bits and Pieces! Healthy School Practise: Birthdays Toys
Avoid chocolate, nuts and sweets in lunchboxes
Provide a water bottle
Provide shorts, T-shirt and pumps for PE
Birthdays
We celebrate birthdays in class by giving a card and singing and ask you not to send in birthday treats.
We do not give out birthday invitations at school.
Toys
Keep toys at home as they can get broken or lost.
Show and Tell items should relate to learning/topic
Uniform and belongings
Clearly label with your child’s name.
Please ensure your child has a coat for cold weather!
