The one encouraging many churches when Paul was in prison.

Timothy was especially useful because he had proven himself to Paul and the Philippians. (v ).
Influential and responsible positions need people of proven character.
Deacons must have proven themselves. (1 Tim.3:10).
Elders must have proven themselves as suggested by various qualifications.
Teachers/preachers should have proven themselves faithful. (2 Tim. 2:2).
